KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Macenzie M. Bassett, 27, of Leavenworth, Kansas, was arrested in Platte County, Missouri, over the weekend after being wanted on several drug-related charges stemming from a 2023 case.
Court documents filed on Sunday, May 18, indicate Bassett was apprehended on a warrant issued by the Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office. The warrant states that on January 5, 2023, Bassett allegedly distributed a felony-level quantity of narcotics and was found in possession of clonazepam, marijuana, and other controlled substances.
Initially granted a $75,000 bond, that amount was increased to $100,000 following her Missouri arrest, after court officials deemed her a flight risk. An extradition order was filed on Monday to return her to Kansas.
Bassett faces the following charges in Kansas:
Unlawful distribution of a controlled substance
No Kansas drug tax stamp
Possession of clonazepam
Possession of marijuana
Possession of drug paraphernalia
As of Tuesday, May 20, Bassett remains in custody in Missouri. No additional details have been released regarding her court appearance or extradition timeline.
