CALIFORNIA — A Riverside County man, Mac Martin Anderson, 59, was sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison for failing to report $1.2 million in income from selling Stan Lee-signed Marvel memorabilia, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

United States District Judge Kenly Kiya Kato also ordered Anderson of Corona to pay $482,833 in restitution.

Between 2015 and 2018, Anderson maintained a personal relationship with Marvel Comics publisher Stan Lee and sold Lee-autographed items to dealers, brokers, and fans at comic conventions. Payments were made in cash or checks.

These earnings were taxable income and should have been reported on Anderson’s annual income tax returns.

The IRS Criminal Investigation revealed that Anderson earned $1.24 million during this period and owed $482,833 in taxes.
