The Nigeria Police Force in Yobe State has arrested a suspected burglar and motorcycle thief believed to be linked to an interstate theft syndicate operating across parts of northern Nigeria.
Police identified the suspect as Lukman Inusa, 27, a resident of Potiskum Local Government Area. He was apprehended by officers attached to the Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters on March 3, 2026, following intelligence about his alleged involvement in motorcycle theft and burglary.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspect is believed to have specialized in stealing motorcycles across Yobe State, Gombe State, and Bauchi State.
During preliminary investigations, Inusa allegedly confessed to the crimes and helped investigators recover five motorcycles believed to be part of approximately 10 bikes he had stolen since beginning his criminal activities.
Police said the recovered motorcycles are currently in custody while authorities work to identify and contact their rightful owners. Investigators are also continuing efforts to recover the remaining stolen motorcycles and track down other members of the suspected syndicate.
The Emmanuel Ado, Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, commended residents for providing information that helped lead to the arrest and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
