by Amelia Crawford

Luke Seffens, a 34-year-old man from Tunbridge Wells, was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison after being found guilty of a series of violent and controlling acts against his partner. Between September and December 2023, Seffens subjected the woman to ongoing physical and emotional abuse. This included random acts of violence, stalking, and threats, with the victim forced to take photos to prove her location and even followed to her workplace.

The abuse escalated on December 4, 2023, when Seffens attacked the victim in a flat, breaking a coffee mug on her head, and threatening to stab and strangle her. After the victim managed to escape the following day, Seffens was arrested but later released on conditional bail.

Despite the restrictions, Seffens continued to contact the victim, leading to further charges. On July 31, 2024, Seffens fled from officers while about to be arrested again in Tunbridge Wells. A lengthy pursuit ensued, assisted by Police Dog Elsa, tracking Seffens through woodland near Vauxhall Lane before he was captured.

Seffens pleaded guilty to charges including false imprisonment, assault, coercive behavior, and escape from custody. He was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on January 28, 2025, and also received an indefinite restraining order to prevent further contact with the victim.
