The Ludhiana police have successfully busted a gang involved in stealing e-rickshaws and batteries. Three gang members were arrested, and police recovered 30 batteries and one e-rickshaw from their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as Pritam Diwakar from Sant Vihar, Ravi Kumar from the Jalandhar Bypass area, and Harish Grover from Shivaji Nagar. A case has been registered against the accused.
At a press conference, Additional DCP Sameer Verma, ACP Davinder Chaudhary, and SHO Daresi, Inspector Satwant Singh provided details about the case. Verma stated that after a series of battery thefts were reported in the city, the police initiated an investigation and quickly identified Pritam and Ravi as key suspects. During their questioning, they named Harish, to whom they had been selling the stolen batteries. The arrests of all three led to the recovery of the stolen goods.
Verma further revealed that Pritam and Ravi had criminal backgrounds, with several theft cases already registered against them in the past. After being released on bail, the accused resumed their illegal activities.
The police will seek remand for the accused and continue their investigation to determine the suspects’ involvement in other unsolved battery and e-rickshaw thefts. Authorities also aim to identify and arrest other potential members of the gang.
