LOWELL, Ohio — A 38-year-old Lowell man, Michael Eldon Jazdzewski, has been arrested on multiple charges stemming from a series of break-ins and thefts in Washington County. Jazdzewski was taken into custody Tuesday and faces numerous charges including five counts of breaking and entering, two counts of theft, two counts of motor vehicle theft, tampering with evidence, and a range of other serious charges.
The arrest comes after an investigation into a break-in at a residence on Christy Road in Warren Township. The homeowner reported spotting a man breaking into his building and loading property into the back of a white Chevrolet truck. When the victim tried to retrieve his belongings, the suspect drove off, with the victim attempting to stop him by jumping into the moving truck. The suspect fled the scene through fields, but the victim eventually jumped out of the truck to avoid being run over.
A deputy who witnessed the truck fleeing attempted to stop it but later found it crashed in a field. The suspect fled on foot, and though a search was conducted, authorities were unable to locate him immediately. They did, however, find stolen property belonging to a resident of Barlow Township inside the truck.
In the following weeks, additional reports of thefts and break-ins in the area, including a stolen Toyota truck, were linked to Jazdzewski. Through their investigation, deputies tracked Jazdzewski’s whereabouts and found him to be in the area of the offenses at the relevant times. On Dec. 19, a stolen Toyota truck was found hidden in the woods near Jazdzewski’s residence.
Jazdzewski was released from prison in November 2024 after serving nearly a decade for similar crimes. He has a history of convictions for property crimes, including breaking and entering, burglary, and theft. Jazdzewski was arrested earlier this week when he appeared for a scheduled parole hearing.
He remains incarcerated in the Washington County Jail with a bond set at $500,000, plus an additional $4,000 for misdemeanor charges. Jazdzewski appeared in Marietta Municipal Court on Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing, and deputies are working to recover any additional stolen property and hold the suspect accountable for his actions.
