BATON ROUGE, La. — Lt. Judy Robertson McDowell, an employee of the Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC), has resigned following her arrest on charges related to smuggling cell phones and SIM cards into Angola State Penitentiary.

McDowell, who served the DOC for twelve years, was arrested on Sunday, July 6, and booked into the West Feliciana Parish Prison. Her bond was set at $15,000, according to jail records. The resignation was confirmed by DOC Communications Director Tiffany Dickerson.

The charges allege McDowell’s involvement in bringing prohibited cellular devices into the prison, a serious violation that compromises security within the facility.
