ALBANY, Sept. 26, 2025 — Lorenz Kraus appeared in court Friday where he pleaded not guilty to the murder charges related to the deaths of his parents, Franz and Theresia Kraus. Following his plea, he was remanded and is being held without bail.

In an exclusive interview with CBS6, Lorenz Kraus, son of the deceased, openly admitted to killing his parents. The interview, conducted by CBS6 reporter Greg Floyd, was intended by Lorenz to let the public hear his side and form their own judgment.

Earlier in the week, police executed a search warrant at 6 Crestwood Court in Albany, where excavation equipment worked in the backyard. Authorities recovered one body on Wednesday and another on Thursday morning during the ongoing investigation into suspected financial crimes.

Albany Police Chief Brendon Cox confirmed that Lorenz was interviewed by investigators shortly after the search warrant was carried out. Soon after the press conference, Lorenz voluntarily contacted CBS6 and provided the interview. Following the interview, Albany police took him into custody.
