Lucknow: Lokendra, son of Nathu Singh from Mandwara village in Budhana, was arrested on October 31, 2025, for possessing 70 kg of illegal ganja. Investigations revealed that he is a repeat offender, with multiple cases registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Muzaffarnagar and Panipat districts.
As part of proceedings under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, authorities seized and froze four immovable properties belonging to Lokendra, collectively valued at Rs 4 crore, on Thursday.
While Lokendra applied for bail, a proposal for his detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act was initiated. The screening committee, chaired by the Divisional Commissioner of Saharanpur, examined and approved the proposal before forwarding it to the Home Department.
Following approval by the Chief Secretary, the Home Secretary issued a detention order under Section 3 of the PITNDPS Act to ensure Lokendra remains in custody and prevent further drug trafficking.
ADG of Meerut Zone, Bhanu Bhaskar, stated, “We are systematically targeting the financial networks of drug traffickers and using preventive detention laws to break the drug supply chain. Repeat offenders should be prepared to face the strictest provisions of law, including asset forfeiture and preventive detention.”
