Logan Jentink, Sandra Zaluski Arrested in Fox Lake Abuse Case

Children, animals found living in filth; child porn charges filed

FOX LAKE, Ill. — Two parents have been arrested in Fox Lake, Illinois, after authorities discovered their three children and several pets living in deplorable conditions, and found child pornography on the father’s cellphone.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation on August 14 after receiving a cyber tip from a cloud storage provider about child pornography uploaded from a Fox Lake location. A search warrant was executed at a home on Woodland Avenue, leading to a disturbing discovery.

Inside the basement, deputies found three children under the age of three sleeping on a cold concrete floor, surrounded by urine and animal feces. Alongside the children were several neglected animals, including iguanas, a bearded dragon, a turtle, and two dogs—some of which were near death due to malnutrition, authorities said.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) was contacted, and the children were immediately removed and placed in the care of a guardian. Lake County Animal Control took custody of the animals.

“I am very thankful our detectives acted quickly on this tip and ultimately were able to remove these children from horrid conditions,” said Sheriff John Idleburg. “Children should always be the most cherished gift a parent has.”

After analyzing a cell phone belonging to Logan Jentink, 29, investigators discovered multiple files of child pornography, resulting in additional felony charges.

Charges Filed:

Logan Jentink, 29

3 counts of Child Endangerment

5 counts of Animal Cruelty

7 counts of Possession of Child Pornography

He remains in custody at the Lake County Jail.

Sandra Zaluski, 23

3 counts of Child Endangerment

5 counts of Animal Cruelty

She was released after a court appearance on Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging the public to report suspected child or animal abuse.
