A 47-year-old man, Vijay alias Sethi, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the stabbing murder of 40-year-old scrap dealer Harish Sharma by his live-in partner in DLF 3, Delhi.
Vijay, a resident of Baliawas village and a friend of the deceased, was present at the crime scene. Both Vijay and Yashmeet Kaur, the victim’s live-in partner, were known to Sharma. Yashmeet, 27, from Ashok Vihar, was arrested Saturday for allegedly stabbing Harish in the chest, which led to his death.
Police received information on August 2 from Narayana Hospital about a man admitted with stab wounds. By the time officers arrived, Harish was declared dead. During questioning, the victim’s nephew said Harish was picked up by Vijay on August 1, requesting Rs 7 lakh, which was provided. Later that night, Harish called and asked his nephew to pay Rs 1,650 for dinner via phone. The next morning, Yasmeet informed the nephew of Harish’s death and alleged that both she and Vijay were responsible.
Interrogation revealed that Harish was married with two daughters, and his wife was unwell. He had started a relationship with Yasmeet, and the couple lived together in rented accommodation. Frequent disputes occurred over Harish’s visits to his family. On the day of the incident, a fight escalated, leading Yasmeet to stab Harish fatally.
