VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY) — Two individuals were arrested in Ville Platte in April after a traffic violation escalated into a drug bust, officials announced.

Lionel Ardoin, 38, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, resisting arrest with force or violence, obstruction of justice, and obstruction of public passage.

Yvonne Savoy, 39, faced charges including obstruction of justice, interfering with a law enforcement investigation, and criminal conspiracy.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents observed a vehicle blocking Soileau Street on April 17. Upon conducting a license plate check, agents identified Ardoin, described as a “known narcotic distributor” in Ville Platte.

When agents instructed Ardoin not to move the truck, he attempted to flee and discarded narcotics during the altercation. Authorities recovered approximately 29.5 grams of cocaine near the scene.

Savoy, Ardoin’s significant other, exited a nearby home and interfered with the investigation by yelling at agents and refusing to step back despite warnings.

Bond information has not been released.
