Linda Polk faces charges after allegedly removing life support and embezzling from a client.
Linda Polk, a 52-year-old woman from Clinton Township, was arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of a 78-year-old Macomb Township man. Polk, who had been working as an in-home caregiver for the victim’s wife since 2021, is now under investigation for multiple crimes following the man’s death.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s health deteriorated in early 2024. In October 2024, he was admitted to a hospital and placed on life support. After Polk obtained Power of Attorney for the victim, she allegedly instructed hospital staff to remove him from life support, leading to his death two weeks later.
However, Polk did not inform the victim’s family of his passing. Investigators claim that she used her legal powers to execute a fraudulent deed on the victim’s property, embezzle significant funds, and misuse his credit cards. Polk faces charges of first-degree murder, vulnerable adult abuse, embezzlement, identity theft, and illegal use of a financial transaction device.
During her Zoom arraignment on Thursday, Polk was held on a $1,000,000 cash/surety bond. She has also been ordered to surrender her passport and wear a steel cuff tether if released.
