Two Arrested Over Armed Robbery, Attempted Murder of Lil Kesh

KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the armed robbery and attempted murder of Afrobeat artist Lil Kesh in Lagos State, where he was allegedly robbed of over ₦2 million.

Rumors of the attack first surfaced in August after a blurry photo of Lil Kesh went viral, sparking public concern about the former YBNL signee’s safety.

In a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects and detailed their confessions.

“On September 11, 2025, the command’s tactical operatives arrested Mathew Adewole, 25, and Mukhtar Muhammad, 31, in Kano,” Haruna said.

“During interrogation, Adewole confessed to attacking Lil Kesh on August 19, 2025, at his residence in Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos. The attack left the victim with a deep cut on his neck.”

Haruna further disclosed that the suspects forced the artist to transfer ₦2,120,000 via mobile phone to an account belonging to Mukhtar Muhammad.

Following the arrest, the suspects were handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, praised the operatives for their swift action and reiterated the command’s commitment to public safety.

“We remain committed to maintaining law and order and will continue to collaborate with other security agencies to combat cross-border crimes,” the statement added.

Armed robbery remains a serious security concern in Nigeria, with many cases involving coordinated, cross-state criminal networks.
