Arunachal Pradesh – In a dramatic operation, 29-year-old Likha Taring was arrested by Arunachal Pradesh Police in connection with a multi-location car theft case. The suspect was apprehended in Medo, Lohit district, after a high-speed chase through a local tea estate.

The case began when a vehicle theft complaint was filed at Papu Hills Police Station on August 23, following the disappearance of a car from Tarajuly railway station in Naharlagun.

Police quickly registered a case under Section 303 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation using technical surveillance and field intelligence.

Taring, a resident of Pachin Colony, Naharlagun, was traced to Medo. A team led by Sub-Inspector PK Riram, along with officers from Lohit district, successfully apprehended him on September 3.

The stolen vehicle was found in his possession. During interrogation, Taring confessed to stealing another vehicle from Itanagar. Following his statement, a second police team, headed by Inspector Torun Mai from Papu Hills PS, recovered the second stolen car from Harmutty in Assam.

Taring has been presented in court, and further investigations are underway to uncover his potential involvement in other vehicle thefts across the region.

This arrest represents a major breakthrough in tackling the growing issue of vehicle theft in Arunachal Pradesh and neighboring states.
