CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. — Trinik Shatega King, a 30-year-old Lexington Park resident, is charged with misdemeanor theft after allegedly stealing five pickled sausages from a Dollar General store in Charlotte Hall.

The incident took place on May 21 at the Dollar General located on Potomac Way. Charging documents filed in St. Mary’s County District Court reveal that King was observed concealing five individually wrapped “Big Mama” pickled sausages, valued at $9.75, before leaving the store without paying.

Store staff identified King, and her identity was later confirmed through her Maryland driver’s license, according to Cpl. Vincent Pontorno of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. The report states King passed all checkout points without attempting payment.

King is charged under Maryland Criminal Law §7-104(3), which addresses theft of property valued under $100. This misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.

Residing on Lookout Drive in Lexington Park, King was issued a summons on May 22 and formally served on June 3. She waived her right to a preliminary hearing, and her trial is set for July 7 in Courtroom 1 of the St. Mary’s County District Court.

The St. Mary’s County Public Defender’s Office filed an appearance on May 30 and is representing King. The case is still pending.
