A Nuevo Laredo woman was arrested after more than $13,000 was reported missing from a downtown Laredo currency exchange, authorities said.

The Laredo Police Department responded July 3, 2025, to Reynosa Casa de Cambio at 801 Victoria St., Suite B, after a man reported that an employee had been caught taking money from the business.

Police identified the employee as 27-year-old Leslie Anahi Vazquez, who worked as a cashier and teller. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that showed Vazquez opening four boxes and taking cash from the establishment.

The total amount stolen was reported to be $13,417.49, according to police. Following the investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Vazquez.

On Feb. 3, 2026, she was charged with theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000, a state jail felony. Jail records indicate Vazquez was booked into Webb County Jail on a $25,000 bond and released the same day.
