Leonel Diaz Pairol Arrested in Florida for Stolen Commercial Vehicle Fraud
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Leonel Diaz Pairol, 54, was arrested on September 8 for his alleged involvement in a sophisticated criminal operation trafficking stolen commercial vehicles using falsified vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and fraudulent title documents.
The arrest came after a lengthy investigation by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement (OALE), which began in 2023. Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson emphasized the impact of commercial truck thefts, noting that they raise costs for all Floridians.
Special agents uncovered multiple semi-trailers and tractors with counterfeit VINs linked to Diaz Pairol’s company, EZH Transport Inc. The probe revealed Diaz Pairol was involved in several fraudulent vehicle rebuilds, including a stolen Freightliner tractor valued at $140,000 from Miami-Dade County.
To hide the stolen vehicles, the operation used fake title applications, altered VINs, and falsified repair records.
Diaz Pairol faces multiple felony charges including title fraud, possession of altered VINs, dealing in stolen property, and obtaining titles with fraudulent documents. Following his arrest, he was taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade.
Commissioner Simpson vowed continued aggressive action against criminal enterprises harming Florida’s businesses and supply chains.
