OXON HILL, Md. — The family of LeNaiya Donaldson, a 33-year-old mother of two who was fatally stabbed in her Oxon Hill apartment, is receiving an outpouring of support as they work to lay her to rest. A GoFundMe campaign organized by her mother, Eshe Blackwell, has exceeded its $5,000 goal, raising more than $6,500 to help cover funeral expenses.
Donaldson was killed on the morning of March 15 by her estranged husband, Kenton Donaldson, who later confessed to the crime and was arrested in Virginia. According to police, a friend of the victim made the first 911 call about a domestic dispute inside her home on Kennebec Street. Minutes later, Kenton Donaldson himself called authorities, admitting to the attack before fleeing the scene.
When officers arrived, they found LeNaiya suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Kenton Donaldson, 38, was later taken into custody with assistance from the Fairfax County Police Department. He remains in custody in Virginia, awaiting extradition to Maryland on charges of first-degree murder and related offenses.
LeNaiya’s tragic death has left her family shattered. In a plea for assistance, her mother shared that she is disabled and unable to afford the costs of transporting her daughter home and caring for her young grandchildren. The fundraiser has drawn support from friends, loved ones, and strangers moved by the family’s heartbreaking loss.
“I was able to get my daughter transferred to the funeral home, and now I just have to pay for her dress and the service,” Eshe wrote in an update. “Thank you so much to everyone who has and does help.”
Beyond the grief, LeNaiya is remembered as a loving mother and an artist. She had a passion for singing and poetry, often sharing her talents online. Her family is now focused on ensuring her children receive the care and stability they need in the wake of their mother’s death. Funeral arrangements are underway, with details to be announced soon.
