ST NEOTS, UK — A drug dealer has been sentenced to more than five years in prison following a police raid on her caravan that uncovered a stash of illegal drugs and cash.
Lemmie Smith, 46, of Cambridge Road, St Neots, was arrested after officers executed a warrant at her caravan on July 25. The raid was part of a broader investigation into her drug activity, which revealed text messages related to the supply of cocaine and cannabis.
Inside the caravan, officers discovered:
£2,170 in cash
Cannabis packaged in bags for sale
Cocaine with an estimated street value of £700
Cannabis worth approximately £2,340
Written notes detailing drug transactions and bulk buying
Smith was arrested and later charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A and Class B drugs. Despite answering “no comment” in police interviews, she pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court on September 16.
She received a sentence of five years and seven months in prison.
In a unique move, Judge Philip Grey ordered that the £2,170 seized during the investigation be donated to various Cambridgeshire charities, including:
Cambridge Cyrenians
Cambridge Aid
Cambridge Women’s Aid
The Red Hen Project
The Light Project
Peterborough Women’s Aid
Angels
The Port
And others
Detective Constable Laura Sharplin, who led the investigation, said:
“Smith wrongly thought her messages would not be seen and had no regard for the potential devastation she could cause by supplying such dangerous substances. We will not tolerate drug dealing as it causes immeasurable harm in our neighbourhoods and communities.”
