Police have arrested a murder suspect accused of fatally shooting his friend during an argument over French fries at an apartment complex in Fort Worth.

According to investigators, LeMarques Renard Darden Jr., 18, was taken into custody in Tyler nearly two weeks after the shooting. Authorities say he is accused of killing Jarvis Davis, 19, also of Fort Worth.

The incident occurred on Jan. 28 around 6:30 p.m. when officers with the Fort Worth Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 9500 block of Jeremiah Drive.

When officers arrived, they found Davis suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Police immediately began performing CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived.

Davis was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died several hours later, authorities said.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Davis and Darden had been arguing over food, specifically because Davis did not want to share his French fries. The disagreement reportedly escalated into a confrontation, and police say Darden shot Davis before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses told investigators that Darden lived in the same apartment complex, but he was not inside his unit when officers searched for him after the shooting. Detectives continued searching for him in the days that followed.

Darden was eventually located and arrested in Tyler. He was later booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Feb. 10, where he remains held on a $250,000 bond.
