LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — An 18-year-old driver was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash near a school bus stop in Lehigh Acres.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred in April along 23rd Street Southwest near Yvonne Avenue. Deputies identified the driver as Jodlin Loussaint, who was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla with only a learner’s permit.
Loussaint allegedly rear-ended a vehicle stopped for children exiting a school bus. He then fled down 23rd Street SW, striking multiple mailboxes along the way.
Neighbors say crashes in the area happen frequently. Resident Georgina Acosta noted, “It happens every week or two,” citing distracted driving and young drivers as ongoing concerns. Acosta’s mailbox has been damaged multiple times from prior incidents.
Deputies also reported that Loussaint had previously been involved in another hit-and-run on the same street that sent a driver to the hospital.
Months after the April crash, authorities issued a felony warrant, leading to Loussaint’s arrest at his Lehigh Acres high school. He was booked into the Lee County Jail.
