GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A Gainesville man, Lee Andrew Jackson, 56, was arrested over the weekend in connection with a transaction fraud case involving an elderly friend, authorities say.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office reported that an 86-year-old man and his adult daughter alerted deputies on August 19, 2025, after growing suspicious of financial irregularities. Jackson, who had access to the victim’s bank accounts and financial cards with permission, was identified as the suspect.

Investigators found that Jackson, a friend of the victim, had made unauthorized withdrawals and purchases from gas stations and ATMs using the victim’s debit card between December 7, 2024, and August 11, 2025. Additionally, Jackson allegedly used the victim’s internet provider account to obtain electronic devices without consent.

Jackson now faces multiple felony charges including financial transaction card fraud, identity theft, and exploitation of an elderly person. He remains held in Hall County Jail on a $37,400 bond.
