College teacher stole valuables from weddings

by Ananya Mehta

The Basavanagudi police have arrested a 46-year-old woman who allegedly led a double life — working as a college lecturer during the week and stealing valuables from public functions on weekends.

The accused, identified as Revathi, is a Kannada lecturer at a private college near Bellandur in Bengaluru. According to police, she carried out her teaching duties on weekdays but allegedly targeted wedding venues and function halls across the city on Sundays.

Investigators said Revathi would attend crowded wedding ceremonies and social gatherings, blending in with guests before stealing jewellery and other valuables. Her activities reportedly continued for some time before police tracked her down.

Following her arrest, further investigation is underway to determine the total value of stolen items and whether she was involved in additional thefts across the city.
