MYRTLE BEACH, SC – A North Myrtle Beach man is heading to prison after pleading guilty to drug and firearm charges following a Myrtle Beach traffic stop.

Lawrence Grant, 36, was arrested in September 2023 when Myrtle Beach Police conducted a traffic stop on Ocean Boulevard. Officers found a black bag in the car, where Grant was seated as a passenger. The bag contained 21.52 grams of marijuana, 12.50 grams of methamphetamine, and over 26 grams of cocaine, according to a police report. A stolen handgun from Horry County was also discovered inside.

Grant, who had two prior narcotics convictions in the last 10 years, pleaded guilty on Monday to third-offense possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of narcotics charges, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

A judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison, with the requirement that he serve at least 85% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
