RENO, Nev. —
Three people have been arrested in connection with a vehicle burglary and fraud case that began at Hunter Creek Trailhead on September 1, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

The investigation began when a victim was alerted by their credit card company about suspicious charges. Upon returning to their vehicle at the trailhead, the victim discovered the passenger-side window smashed and two bags missing. Among the stolen items were two laptops, AirPods, credit cards, and other personal belongings.

WCSO deputies traced the stolen credit card usage to local businesses and collected surveillance footage. The victim also helped track their missing AirPods to an apartment complex on Wedekind Road.

A collaborative investigation involving WCSO deputies, detectives, and the Northern Nevada Regional Intelligence Center led to the identification of three suspects.

Following a search warrant at the Wedekind Road location, law enforcement recovered most of the stolen property and uncovered a fraudulent document lab. Inside, they found counterfeit checks, personal ID documents, a check-printing machine, and other tools used for financial fraud.

The suspects were arrested and charged as follows:

Laura Schlicker:

Felony possession of stolen property

Eric Sanchez:

Felony grand larceny by card transfer

Felony possession of a credit/debit card without cardholder consent

Felony fraudulent use of a credit/debit card

Felony obtaining/using personal identifying information of another

Sophia Renteria:

Felony grand larceny by card transfer

Felony possession of a credit/debit card without cardholder consent

Felony fraudulent use of a credit/debit card

Felony obtaining/using personal identifying information of another

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may follow as they examine the materials recovered from the fraud lab.
