Lauchlan James MacMillan, a 48-year-old former businessman from Taranaki, has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison after being convicted of his involvement in a methamphetamine distribution ring in New Plymouth in 2019.

Now residing in Queenstown, MacMillan was arrested in May following an incident with his partner. According to the police, a search warrant was executed at his Hanleys Farm property on May 24. During the search, officers discovered cannabis plants in a bedroom, along with 19 grams of cannabis, 50 point bags, and a set of scales in an unlocked safe in MacMillan’s room.
