LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Gary Guymon, a long-time Las Vegas defense attorney, has had his law license suspended after facing serious criminal charges, including operating a prostitution ring and allegedly plotting to have a woman killed. As of Monday, the Nevada Supreme Court ordered that Guymon be barred from representing or accepting money from any clients.
Guymon had requested to be placed on “disability inactive status” due to mental health and addiction issues, but the court rejected his argument. Justices found that the psychologist’s letter provided in support of his claim was insufficient, describing it as “facially inadequate” and stating that Guymon is not currently experiencing a significant depressive episode.
The court noted that the evidence against Guymon raised concerns, suggesting he posed a “substantial threat of serious harm to the public.” The charges against him include solicitation to commit murder, sex trafficking, pandering, conspiracy, and perjury, among others.
Guymon, who has worked on high-profile cases as both a prosecutor and defense attorney in Clark County, was arrested earlier this month. He posted bail but faces allegations of introducing clients to a prostitution ring, where they would engage in sex acts in exchange for money or goods. Investigators also uncovered claims that Guymon conspired to have a woman killed but allegedly stopped after law enforcement became involved.
Guymon is set to appear in court on March 6 to face the charges.
