by Sophia Bennett

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Larry Hunter, 64, founder of Touched by an Angel Ministries, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated assault and domestic assault.

According to a police affidavit, Hunter and his wife were involved in an altercation in December 2025 that escalated into violence. Police said Hunter allegedly threw his wife against a wall and strangled her until she lost consciousness. She sustained injuries to her lip, neck, hands, and arms.

Detectives reviewed video footage supporting the assault claims. Hunter’s wife told authorities she delayed reporting the incident after Hunter allegedly threatened to “revoke her Green Card.”

Hunter has since been released from jail on a $45,000 bond and faces pending charges in connection with the domestic assault.
