BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) — Two Louisville men were arrested after allegedly stealing used cooking oil from several Bowling Green restaurants, police said.

According to Bowling Green Police, officers responded Tuesday to Captain D’s on U.S. 31-W Bypass after an employee of Darling Ingredients reported two men siphoning oil from recycling containers behind local businesses.

At the scene, officers found 52-year-old Lao Magdiel and 27-year-old Luis Nogales Sanchez behind the property near a used oil container. When questioned, Sanchez reportedly told police they were “starting a company from picking oil.”

Investigators determined the pair had taken approximately $1,500 worth of oil from at least seven businesses, including Hardee’s, Puerto Vallarta, Huck’s, Mi Cocina, and Walmart. Video evidence showed both men pumping oil from multiple containers, despite their claims that the footage was false.

Both suspects were booked into the Warren County Regional Jail and charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property valued between $1,000 and $10,000.
