D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) — A man suspected of robbing a bank in D’Iberville has been arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to local police.

Lane Wesley Blatchford, a 30-year-old from Prattville, Alabama, was taken into custody on Thursday, one day after the alleged robbery at Hancock Whitney Bank on D’Iberville Boulevard.

The robbery occurred around 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say Blatchford first entered the bank requesting to use the bathroom but was denied access. He left, then returned a few minutes later and handed a teller a note demanding money.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, Blatchford reportedly fled south on foot to a nearby vehicle and left the area.

D’Iberville police detectives, working alongside federal and local partners, identified Blatchford as the suspect just hours later. A warrant for his arrest was quickly issued.

He was located by the U.S. Marshals Service on Central Avenue in D’Iberville and arrested without incident.

Authorities have not disclosed how much money was taken, and the investigation remains ongoing.
