Madisonville, Ky. – A man was arrested in Madisonville after a burglary attempt escalated into a confrontation where a resident fired a gun, according to police.

Authorities say 36-year-old Landon Foster forcefully entered a home on Noel Avenue around September 28. A resident inside the home confronted Foster with a firearm and gave a loud verbal warning. Despite this, Foster allegedly tried to grab the gun, injuring the resident’s hand in the process.

In response, the victim discharged one round, which reportedly struck a neighboring house. No injuries from the gunfire were reported.

Police say Foster later admitted to unlawfully entering the home but claimed he believed someone inside was in distress. However, he also admitted he heard no signs of yelling or trouble before forcing entry.

Foster is charged with burglary and attempted robbery and is currently being held at the Hopkins County Jail.
