The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Lalrosang Hmar, also known as Rosang, in connection with the brutal 2024 Jiribam killings in Manipur. The arrest took place in Aizawl, Mizoram, on Thursday, following a coordinated investigation by the NIA.
Lalrosang is a resident of Moinathol village in Assam’s Dilkhosh Grant, Cachar. His arrest came just hours after another key accused, Thanglienlal Hmar, was apprehended by a joint NIA–Assam Police team in Aizawl.
The 2024 Jiribam killings involved the abduction and murder of three women and three children in Borebekra, Jiribam District. The victims’ bodies were later disposed of in the Barak River. Authorities have identified Lalrosang as an active conspirator in the heinous crime.
During the arrest, the NIA recovered a mobile phone and SIM card from Lalrosang, which are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials confirmed that further leads are being pursued to apprehend all individuals involved in the case.
The NIA continues to investigate the killings, underscoring its commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring national security.
