MONTGOMERY, AL — A suspect has been arrested in connection to the 2024 murder of a 13-year-old boy, according to Montgomery police and Central Alabama CrimeStoppers.
Lakito Kemp, 48, was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with capital murder after a tip led investigators to him.
The victim, a 13-year-old male, was found with a gunshot wound in the 100 block of West Fred D. Gray Avenue on December 19, 2024, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following months of investigation, authorities say a community tip helped link Kemp to the fatal shooting. He was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Detention Center.
The case remains under investigation. No further details have been released at this time regarding motive or the suspect’s relationship, if any, to the victim.
CrimeStoppers praised the public’s assistance in helping bring closure to the case.
