LAKE CITY, Fla. — Lake City police credited their license plate reader technology with helping them locate and arrest two women involved in a stolen vehicle incident.

On Monday afternoon, officers received an alert from the FLOCK license plate reader system about a stolen car on Marion Avenue. When police attempted to pull over the vehicle, it sped away.

The officers later found the vehicle near Northeast Massie Street and Milton Terrace. Upon arrival, the occupants jumped out and fled on foot. Police quickly set up a perimeter and conducted a search of the area.

Two women, 27-year-old Meisha Jackson and 19-year-old Alizay Edwards, were apprehended. Jackson was booked into Columbia County Jail on multiple charges, including grand theft, possession of a controlled substance, simple assault, and resisting an officer. Her bond was set at $56,000.

Edwards was charged with resisting an officer without violence and was released after posting a $2,500 bond.

Lake City Police continue to utilize technology to enhance their efforts in keeping the community safe.
