LAGOS, Nigeria — The Nigeria Police Force, Airport Command in Lagos has arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with a $16,000 CAD ($17 million Naira) fraud scheme involving imported goods.
According to ASP Mohammed Adeola, Police Public Relations Officer, the case was reported on December 4, 2025, after a shipment from Canada to Lagos raised concerns. Investigations revealed that Moshood Olayinka fraudulently purchased twelve NEC projectors and twelve Automatic External Defibrillators (AED Plus) using counterfeit credit card details.
Only $4,000 CAD of the $16,000 CAD purchase was processed before the transaction was flagged, even though the items had already been handed to a Canadian shipping company. Olayinka also forged an invoice to make the transaction appear legitimate.
Following intelligence-driven investigations, the Airport Command tracked and arrested the suspect. Authorities are now investigating the possible involvement of accomplices and are working to recover the goods. Once the investigation concludes, the items may be returned to Canada, and the suspect will be arraigned in court.
Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, reiterated that the Airport Police Command remains committed to protecting Nigeria’s aviation sector, international trade, and passengers through intelligence-led policing.
