In a major anti-narcotics operation, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted 66 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, disguised as green tea at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.
The seizure, which took place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, followed intelligence gathered weeks earlier. The suspicious cargo had arrived on May 11 via an Emirates Airlines flight from Thailand through the UAE. Weighing a total of 62.20kg, the cannabis was carefully wrapped and concealed in packages labeled as green tea.
NDLEA officials maintained a three-week-long surveillance before conducting a joint examination with other stakeholders, leading to the bust.
