A Lafayette police officer, Alessiya Johnson Farley, 33, was arrested on December 19, 2024, on charges of theft of property in the fourth degree. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on November 14, 2024, near Chambers Academy in Chambers County, Alabama.
Authorities allege that Farley, a Valley resident, cashed the same $120 check twice, which is classified as a misdemeanor under Alabama law. The arrest warrant accuses her of exercising unauthorized control over property valued at $120, an offense that is punishable under the state’s theft laws.
A representative from the Chambers County School District confirmed that Farley is no longer employed at the school district. However, inquiries made to the Lafayette Police Department regarding whether Farley has been placed on administrative leave have gone unanswered as of now. WRBL also attempted to obtain a statement from Lafayette Police Chief Chris Trice but has not received any response.
This case is still under investigation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
