ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Two men have been arrested after a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper was shot at early Saturday, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced that 37-year-old Labaron Washington and 36-year-old Brandon Green have been charged with attempted murder. Authorities also charged Washington with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Officials said the incident occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday, when a trooper was stopped behind a Ford Explorer at a stop sign. A vehicle chase ensued after a passenger in the Explorer fired at the trooper, who did not return fire.
The pursuit ended on John C. Calhoun Drive in Orangeburg, authorities added.
Washington and Green were denied bond on the attempted murder charges during a hearing on Monday.
