n a significant development, the City Police on Wednesday (July 16, 2025) arrested two individuals from Gajuwaka for their suspected roles in a human trafficking racket that authorities say is closely tied to international cybercrime operations.
The accused have been identified as L. Suresh and Adilakshmi, both residents of the Gajuwaka area. Police sources revealed that the duo was allegedly involved in recruiting and trafficking individuals under false pretenses, facilitating their movement across borders for employment in fraudulent online scam networks.
Investigators believe the arrested individuals acted as local recruiters or middlemen for transnational syndicates involved in digital scams, including fake call centers, investment frauds, and online extortion.
A senior police official stated, “This isn’t just a trafficking case—it’s part of a larger network where victims are lured abroad and forced to work in cybercrime hubs, often under harsh or illegal conditions.”
The arrests were made following surveillance and intelligence inputs shared by cybercrime units. Authorities are now tracking financial transactions, communication records, and potential overseas links.
More arrests are expected as the investigation unfolds. The police are also working with international law enforcement agencies to uncover the full extent of the network.
