Schenectady, NY (WRGB) — Kyshawn Robinson, 31, of Albany, has pleaded guilty to Burglary in the First Degree, a Class B Violent Felony, for his role in a violent home invasion that occurred in October 2023 on State Street in Schenectady.

Robinson entered his plea on September 8, 2025, before Acting County Court Judge Michael Smrtic.

According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on October 24, 2023, when Robinson and an accomplice forced entry into an apartment at 957 State Street. The resident, who spotted the suspects via a home security camera, immediately called 911 while returning to the apartment to confront them.

Upon entering, the victim was shot in the chest with a small caliber pistol. Surveillance footage captured Robinson fleeing the scene shortly before authorities arrived.

Despite his injuries, the victim attempted to pursue Robinson until officers from the Schenectady Police Department and responders from the Schenectady Fire Department intervened. The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Robinson was swiftly identified after police located his vehicle near the active crime scene. A coordinated investigation by the Non-Fatal Shooting Taskforce led to his arrest and prosecution.

As part of the plea agreement, Robinson is scheduled to be sentenced on November 19, 2025, to 11 years in state prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
