Martinsville police have arrested a fifteenth suspect in connection with the killing of 39-year-old Crystal Galloway Jordan, authorities announced.
According to the Martinsville Police Department, 22-year-old Kwashaun Awanta Hairston of Danville was arrested on Jan. 9, 2026, and charged with first-degree murder. Police said Hairston is being held without bond.
The investigation stems from an incident on Aug. 12, 2025, when officers were dispatched to a reported large disturbance in the 500 block of Forest Street in Martinsville. Upon arrival, police found Galloway suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported to a hospital, where she later died, officials said.
In the weeks following the homicide, investigators conducted numerous interviews and gathered evidence that revealed a large group had allegedly conspired to confront and attack a smaller group at the Forest Street location. Police say gunfire erupted during the confrontation, resulting in Galloway’s death.
Authorities previously arrested 11 individuals on charges of malicious wounding by mob, while three others were charged with first-degree murder. Continued investigation later identified a fourth suspect connected to the shooting, leading to Hairston’s arrest.
Police also confirmed that Kwashaun Hairston is the older brother of Kwaheim Hairston, who was arrested in October in connection with the case.
The investigation remains ongoing.
