Dubai — Kuwaiti actress Shujoun Al Hajri was arrested yesterday for allegedly possessing narcotics and psychotropic substances for personal use, following a national crackdown on drug-related crimes, according to a statement from Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior.
The General Department for Combating Narcotics confirmed the arrest came after a series of surveillance operations and intelligence-led investigations. Authorities found marijuana, cocaine, and other controlled substances in Al Hajri’s possession.
While the ministry did not officially name Al Hajri in its public announcement, social media users quickly identified her, sparking widespread discussion online.
“The arrest was made in accordance with legal procedures following credible information and careful monitoring,” the ministry stated. “The individual was found with illicit substances intended for consumption.”
Al Hajri has been referred to judicial authorities for further investigation. The Interior Ministry emphasized its firm stance against narcotics, labeling drug offenses a serious threat to public health and social stability.
Citizens and residents were urged to report any suspicious activities as part of the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug-related crimes.
The popular Kuwaiti television and film actress has not made any public comment since the arrest.
