Kurukshetra police have made significant strides in solving at least 10 car theft cases with the arrest of two men involved in an inter-state vehicle theft racket. The accused, Neeraj, a resident of Rohtak, and Rajiv alias Golu, originally from Hisar and currently residing in Jind, were apprehended on Thursday by a CIA-1 police team.
The arrests were made after the suspects were seen with a stolen vehicle, attempting to sell it with a fake number plate. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the car was stolen from Ludhiana, Punjab, and had been equipped with a fake number plate to conceal its identity.
Police recovered several items from the accused, including a tablet used for breaking car locks, four car locks, nine vehicle keys, 27 different tools, four fake number plates, and five tow chains. Neeraj, who has 12 previous car theft cases registered against him, had been previously incarcerated for a similar crime. Rajiv has a criminal history too, having been involved in a robbery case in Ambala.
The duo is suspected of stealing vehicles by tampering with their locks using the tablet, replacing them with fake number plates, and selling the stolen cars, mostly in the Ludhiana area. The authorities continue to investigate further, and the accused have been sent to jail after appearing in court.
