RESTON, Va. — Detectives from the Reston Police Financial Crimes Unit have charged Kun Ye, 37, of New York, after he allegedly scammed a victim out of $40,000 in Kings Park West, Fairfax County.
The victim reported the fraud on September 13, stating that an unknown man contacted him, posing as a bank representative, and convinced him to withdraw money twice and hand it over in person.
Following an investigation, Reston Police identified Ye as the suspect. Working with the Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit, officers located and arrested Ye at the 3900 block of Fair Ridge Drive in Fair Oaks.
Ye was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Felony Obtaining Money by False Pretenses. He is being held without bond.
