A 30-year-old woman, Nivya, was detained by police for allegedly assaulting her elderly mother, Sarasu, resulting in a rib fracture at their residence in Kumbalam. The incident occurred following a personal conflict, according to officials on Friday.
Nivya was apprehended in Mananthavady, Wayanad, and will be transferred to Kochi for further legal proceedings. Authorities noted that Nivya has a history of legal issues, including prior murder and narcotics offenses.
The charges were filed based on a complaint lodged by the victim, Sarasu, and police are investigating the matter under relevant sections of law pertaining to assault and domestic violence.
