Kristi B. Tyler Arrested for Assaulting Elderly Neighbor in Lake Villa

Faces felony charges after unprovoked attack on 72-year-old woman

LAKE VILLA, Ill. — A 53-year-old woman is facing serious felony charges after allegedly launching an unprovoked attack on her 72-year-old neighbor in unincorporated Lake Villa on Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say Kristi B. Tyler, a resident of the 37700 block of North Delaby Road, physically assaulted the elderly woman outside her home around 3:30 p.m. on May 2.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Tyler allegedly punched the victim, knocked her to the ground, and continued to beat her before grabbing the woman’s American flag and running down the street with it.

Responding deputies quickly apprehended Tyler nearby after receiving a suspect description from dispatchers.

The victim suffered serious injuries, including a knee injury and facial lacerations, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Tyler has been charged with:

Aggravated battery to a victim over age 60

Aggravated battery causing great bodily harm

Aggravated battery in a public place

She is scheduled to appear in bond court on Friday, where prosecutors are expected to request pretrial detention.
