In a major breakthrough, Korei Police in Jajpur district have arrested five individuals linked to a gang involved in a series of theft and loot cases. The police recovered gold ornaments weighing 150 grams, valued at over Rs17 lakh.
The arrested include four members of the gang and a woman who allegedly purchased the stolen gold. All five have been taken into custody and produced before the court.
The arrests came after investigations into recent thefts reported in Kahneipur and Santara areas, where valuables were stolen from two homes. Acting on complaints, the Korei Police registered cases and launched a detailed probe, which led to the identification and arrest of the suspects.
The accused have been identified as Rabindra Patra of Laxminagar, Krishna Das, Shubham Ojha, and Mantu Munda of Jogisahi — all under Jajpur Road Police Station limits. The woman buyer was identified as Ajmira Bibi from Maharam Sahi, also under the same police jurisdiction.
Police confirmed that the stolen gold ornaments, worth more than Rs17 lakh, were seized from the accused’s possession. Further investigations are ongoing.
