PATHUM THANI, THAILAND — A 32-year-old man identified as Koraphak, also known by the alias Oak and dubbed the “ninja thief,” was arrested on April 30 for a string of thefts carried out under the guise of a delivery rider.

The suspect was apprehended in Pathum Thani province following a warrant issued by the Taling Chan Criminal Court on April 29. Police say Koraphak confessed to committing over a dozen thefts to fund his online gambling habit and to buy food for his cats.

According to Police Colonel Chotiwat, officers launched an investigation after civic activist Kan Chomphalang reported a suspicious pattern involving a man dressed as a delivery rider who arranged meetings with online sellers and fled with goods. The suspect primarily targeted victims in Police Region 1 and the broader Metropolitan Police jurisdiction.

Investigators tracked Koraphak to his home, where he was found hiding under a bed, using a wooden board to conceal himself. The man had previously committed thefts using the same modus operandi—posing as a delivery person, arranging to view items like phones or IT equipment, then fleeing without paying.

One serious incident involved the suspect dragging a victim with his motorcycle while fleeing, causing the victim to lose consciousness.

Although many victims did not initially report the crimes—citing minor financial losses—the civic tip-off and further investigation connected Koraphak to at least 13 known cases. Police Colonel Napasilp confirmed that cooperation among 15 police stations and a swift six-hour operation led to the arrest.

The suspect’s criminal behavior reportedly began as early as age 12, with family members and friends saying he had a long history of theft, including stealing from his own mother and mentors.

Koraphak will face charges of fraud and theft, and authorities are encouraging online sellers to verify customer identities and remain cautious when arranging in-person exchanges.
