Gomtinagar police have arrested Komal Srivastava, a woman employee at a leading jewellery firm, for allegedly stealing nearly 2.5 kg of gold ornaments over a span of four years.
The accused, who worked as a bank office executive at the store, reportedly carried out the thefts gradually, taking advantage of her position.
The alleged crimes were uncovered during a routine stock verification conducted just a day before Dhanteras, prompting immediate police investigation. Authorities are currently examining the records and inventory to determine the full extent of the losses.
Police have confirmed that Komal Srivastava is in custody and further legal proceedings are underway.
